La arteria faríngea ascendente (APA) es una rama de la arteria carótida externa (ECA), esta arteria irriga la región faríngea, el paladar blando, la apófisis odontoidea, el hueso clivus, las ramas de los nervios C1 y C2, los nervios craneales y las meninges de la fosa posterior. Este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una correlación anatómica y clínica alrededor de esta rama de la arteria carótida externa. A menudo se olvida, pero la APA es muy importante en varias especialidades que maneja el patólogo de cuello, cara y craneo.
