Resumen: El mielomeningocele es un defecto abierto del tubo neural con un espectro de manifestaciones clínicas diversas permanentes y que afectan
negativamente la calidad de vida de los individuos que la padecen. Tras los primeros pasos en la cirugía fetal, se comprendió gradualmente que las
malformaciones congénitas tienen de una historia evolutiva prenatal en la que se producen procesos dramáticos y clínicamente relevantes. Progresivamente
se ha buscado mejorar las técnicas quirúrgicas fetales y reducir la morbilidad postoperatoria materna y fetal. A través de la descripción de cuatro pacientes a quienes se realizó corrección prenatal de MMC, reportamos la experiencia a la fecha de esta modalidad de tratamiento en la costa caribe colombiana en la Institución Maternidad Santa Cruz ubicada en Cartagena, Colombia.
